Ziti with Walnut Pesto and Cheese

Ingredients:
  • 1 lb (500 g) ziti, broken up into pieces
  • 1 quantity pesto
  • 1 cup (125 g) freshly grated Caciocavallo cheese or Provolone cheese
  • 4-6 sprigs fresh basil, to garnish

Procedure:
  1. Cook the pasta in a large pot of salted water until al dente
  2. Drain the pasta over a large serving bowl, so that the boiling water heats the bowl
  3. Discard the water, dry the bowl, and fill with one-third of the pasta
  4. Cover with one-third of the pesto and cheese
  5. Repeat until all ingredients are in the bowl
  6. Toss well
  7. Serve hot, garnishing each portion with a sprig of fresh basil
